The Space and the Universe is a vast and wide area of mystery with several principles and theoretical explanations. In the seventeenth century, the concept of space and time emerged as a central matter of concern, in the topics of epistemology and metaphysics. A German mathematician, Sir Gottfried Leibniz and the English physicist, Sir Isaac Newton derived two opposing theories about the existence of space. Sir Gottfried explained that space is merely the collection of spatial relations between objects in the world. Astronomy is the oldest branch of science which deals with the study of celestial bodies such as stars, moons, planets, galaxies etc. The main information source regarding these planetary bodies is from electromagnetic radiation, coming under visible spectrum. Modern branch has revealed many other mysterious objects like quasars and pulsars, radio galaxies, and so on. These observations explain physical theories that describe some exotic entities like black holes and neutron stars. In the late 20th century, astronomy got split into observational and theoretical branches. Observational astronomy deals with data collection from observations of astronomical objects, thereby analyzing by basic principles of physics. Theoretical astronomy is focussed on developing and describing analytical models that describe astronomical objects and related phenomena. During the 20th century, physical Cosmology came out with advanced concepts of Big Bang theory and heavily supported by astronomy and physics testimonies, like Hubble’s law, cosmological microwave background radiation etc. It is possible with the space telescopes to enable measurements within the electromagnetic spectrum parts, blocked by the atmosphere.

The United States Air Force propelled an advanced military communication satellite, on July 24, 2015. It is the latest entry to the developing ‘Milsat’ constellation. The Wide-band Global Satcom-7 (also known as WGS-7) satellite was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (Florida), was put into orbit by the launch vehicle Delta IV, by the United Launch Alliance. It is the seventh WGS satellite launched from here since 2007. The spacecraft constellation facilitates capable communication to U.S. military forces. According to Spaceflight Now, the main engine RS-68A was used for the first time in the launch vehicle. As a part of standardizing all Delta IV vehicle configurations, the engines are being upgraded. All the WGS communication satellites manufactured by Boeing belong to the Department of Defense. Three more WGS satellites in the series are scheduled to blast off by 2018, completing a constellation of ten satellites.
European Space Agency (ESA) has initiated the mission of a rocket landing on a comet. The mission is named ‘Rosetta’, aimed at landing on the comet (67P) Churyumov-Gerasimenko. For the first time in history, an extraordinary achievement has been achieved. The comet lander Philae landed in a space, completely in the dark, where sunlight was not available. But as it moved nearer towards the Sun, it awakened again in June, 2015 and finally landed on Comet 67P in the month of November. In the mission’s next phase scheduled in August 2015, Rosetta will escort the comet via perihelion till the supposed end.
